Ideas brilliant at 3:00 a.m.

...are only so until re-read. This is the textless version of the promo page for Brilliant at 3:00 a.m. , a webcomic made by me and my crew at Aberrant Productions . It is finally up, people. The new and revised version. Of course, I don't know how long I can sustain my renewed interest in this project. Here's to hoping it will last until the first chapter is up. Everything is hand-drawn. I don't use a tablet (because I don't have one...yet). Scanned on my trusty 3-in-1 printer/scanner/photocopier. Cleaned with GIMP 2.6. And then colored, textured, toned....all with GIMP. It's a pretty awesome software, once you get the hang of it. Not better than Photoshop but, if you really know your way around with it, it can be up to par.

Book Review: Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton

My introduction to Edith Wharton is her Nobel Prize-winning The House of Mirth , a book that took me months to finish. Months. When I can devour most books in hours. It's not an exaggeration. I really can finish a full novel in just one day. My record so far is six hours -- Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell but that was only because I've already read the book countless times before (and seen the movie even more times), that is to say, I was able to skip a lot of passages. But while it's true that I'm easily distracted by the littlest things and usually have more than one thing going at the same time and thus get very little done, when I do focus on those rare occasions when the moon is full and the tide is high :), I get really FOCUSED to the complete exclusion of everything else. Which explains why I seem to just inhale Bible-thick books. That and years of training in law school can teach one (out of necessity) a lot about speed-reading. But I digress. The

Whoever Said 'the Sky is Blue' was Lying

Whoever said 'the sky is blue' was lying Who told a fib that trees are green; I tell you, yellow is a baby crying, And black is spelled in cyan sheen. Whoever said 'the sky is blue' was lying Who told a fib that snow is white; I tell you, six comes first like a violin With J.S. Bach in autumn light. Whoever said 'the sky is blue' was lying Who told a fib your lips are red; I tell you, pain is violet, pink is dying, And wood smells taste, and feels as well. I ask: "Have you ever had an orange fling?" Or loved so green it's almost pain? I tell you, I've never seen a crystal spring, Or smoky gray or golden grain. For whoever said 'the sky is blue' was lying Now tell the truth, please don't deny That two is written with magenta lining And coffee sounds like purple dye.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor - Cain's crazy, who knew

I like science fiction. I think it's interesting. It's not an outright fantasy and it's not hard science either. It's somewhere in-between, which makes it really, well, interesting. But then there are sci-fi shows that really push the limits of the genre. For some, it's The X-files . For others, it's Star Trek . I'm sure there are other titles that I haven't heard of, but for me, the defining moment of science fiction is Battlestar Galactica . The original series was aired in 1978. It was a huge success. Then in 2004, David Eick and Ronald D. Moore decided to "re-imagine" it. The result is HBO's multi-awarded, critically-praised Battlestar Galactica . The series chronicles the journey of the last surviving humans from the Twelve Colonies of Kobol after their nuclear near-annihilation by the Cylons (sentient, monotheistic cyborgs). Under the leadership of Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell), a former school teacher suddenly elevated to Presi

MEDIUM: graphite SIZE: 654 x 500 p.s. I change my mind: I will not be watching the Sinulog. The traffic is just horrendous.

k bye

So I finally had my ears checked by an EENT specialist. For a while I've been suffering from mild deafness. At first, it was just my left ear and then my right ear went about two months ago. It took me this long because I'm a lazy idiot. The first thing the doctor asked me was whether or not I'm suffering from a cold. I'm like, my problem is with my ears, why are you asking me about my nose? I've got sinusitis, or so I thought. It turns out it's allergic rhinitis -- I am extremely allergic to dust and animal hairs. So all my life I've grown up with pets and all my life I've suffered from a stuffy nose. No small wonder. I am allergic. And here I thought I was ridiculously healthy. Long story short, I can hear crystal now -- as in, if I turn on the faucet, I can almost hear each individual water drop. So cool. In other news, I should tell you that I rarely get worked up over things. If I do, I usually keep my mouth shut. See, there's no use talking a

My 2010 List

1. Take up running. I guess I'll start by doing short morning jogs at the Cebu City Sports Complex...next month because January is Sinulog month. 2. Speaking of which, I'm going to watch the Sinulog festival this year at the same venue. I'm not going to brave the streets though. 3. Learn to drive. I think I'm going to take driving lessons though instead of ask my Dad to teach me. 4. Get a passport. I don't have one, waaahhh ~ 5. Update Excursus . I am going to update my blogs anyway so I might as well include the website. 6. Finish coloring the first chapter of Brilliant at 3:00 a.m. I was going to finish it over the break but I got waylaid by holiday stuff and the usual chores. Will finish it this week, if circumstances permit. There's a wedding coming up and I'm trying not to go (read: desperately looking for a valid excuse). 7. Exercise more. I really need it because I still eat the same even as my metabolism is no longer up to par. 8. Paint our old pari
